Are Your Expectations Making You Unhappy?

The expectations you have for your life play a huge role in your happiness. We are content or happy when the expectations we have for our life are in line with the reality of our lives. So if your reality never matches your expectations, you probably won’t ever be content.

That’s why it’s important to question your expectations. Where did you get them from? What are they based on? Are they yours, or someone else’s? The latest video explores this topic. (more…)

How to Take Action on the Things You Learn

Could learning new things could be holding you back from reaching your potential?

Blogs, podcasts, books, websites, videos – there’s so many ways you can learn new things now. It’s awesome. Except when it’s actually holding you back from achieving your dreams.

In this video I talk about two different types of learning, and which one you need to put into practice to head in the direction of your goals.

Achieve Your Goals With This 5 Minute Exercise

Time goes by so quickly. One minute you’re celebrating New Years, the next it’s July! I’ve set a lot of goals in my life. Some of them I’ve reached, many are still out of reach. It’s so easy to set a ton of goals and then months go by and I haven’t taken hardly any actions to make them happen.

In today’s video I share a simple 5 minute exercise I’ve started doing that is helping me make consistent progress in the direction of my dreams.

Making Ideas Happen

Writer & Entrepreneur Derek Sivers says, “Ideas are worth nothing unless executed. They are just a multiplier. Execution is worth millions.”

I have always loved coming up with ideas. It’s exciting brainstorming things that could solve problems. The thing is, ideas are great, but if you don’t execute them, they aren’t worth much.

Making Ideas Happen: Overcoming the Obstacles Between Vision & Reality by Scott Belsky is a brilliant book. In this video I share five tips from the book on how to make your ideas a reality, and not just dream about them. (more…)

Are Others Happier?

We live in a comparison culture. From a young age we are bombarded with messages of what success looks like. We’re told to strive to have an important career, lots of money, a large house, a hot partner, children, lots of friends. It’s not our fault that naturally we compare ourselves. It’s a default mode, really.

In today’s video I talk about the new OCD, obsessive comparison disorder and share a study which gives insights into whether or not we generally believe others are happier and what makes us think that way. (more…)

How to Not Get Overwhelmed by the World

With all the things wrong in the world, it’s hard to not get overwhelmed. It can feel like the world is turning to crap.

When I focus on all that is wrong, it puts me in quite a state of helplessness and guilt, not knowing what to do and then feeling guilty about doing nothing. It can be a vicious cycle.

The thing is, guilt is useless. It certainly isn’t good for my mental health and unless it drives me to action, the guilt in itself is pointless. In this video I share a strategy to help not be overwhelmed with all that is happening in the world. (more…)

Appreciating People As They Are

I’ll never forget the line in Bridget Jones’ Diary when Mark Darcy told Bridget that he liked her. “Ah, apart from the smoking and the drinking, the vulgar mother and… ah, the verbal diarrhea,” replied Bridget. And Mark said, “No, I like you very much. Just as you are.” Isn’t that what we long for, for people to like us just the way we are.

I came across a brilliant quote by Ram Dass, spiritual teacher and author, where he talks about seeing people as trees.

Let me explain… (more…)

How to Deal with Change

Change is a constant in life. As an adult we have to deal with the many changes that life throws at us, and as a result, cope with loss.

With change comes loss, because in order to gain one thing we must lose another.

In today’s video I share some wise words from Chelsea Dinsmore, Chief Inspiration Officer at Live Your Legend and also some tips from author, speaker and life coach, Martha Beck on how to deal with change. (more…)

Money Habits that Lead to Happiness

It’s so easy to have no idea where your money is going! I am super guilty of this.

Recently I listened to a live master class on how to spend your money on things that bring you happiness. The class was by Sarah Von Bargen, creator of the amazing blog Yes and Yes (because yes is more fun than no) and one of my fav bloggers.

Sarah shared some awesome tips and I was inspired to make a video based on her tips. (more…)

How to Motivate Yourself to Exercise

For as long as I can remember, I have loved to take nana naps. I’m guessing it started when I was a baby, and it was much more acceptable to nap.

The problem is that although I have always preferred napping to exercise, I know that exercising is an important aspect of living a long and healthy adult life.

Janis Martman, who’s part of the science team at HeadSpace (an awesome meditation app) wrote a great article with science-backed tips on how to motivate yourself to exercise. And that article inspired this video! (more…)
